I watched a video about Duchamp's optical experiments and some of Marina Apollonio's work, where the combination of rotation and static patterns creates an optical illusion that changes the perception of depth, making flat patterns appear as three-dimensional.

This inspired me to combine gear structures with optical illusion patterns, bringing visual gamification to the furniture through rotation and making it more intuitively playable.

In most of her works the viewer's eye rotates a circular plane painted with two alternating colours (most often black and white or red and blue). This movement causes an extreme optical and perspectival effect of concentric concave and convex circles. The eye’s natural tendency to be drawn “towards the simplest configuration permitted by the sense of vision”, in the words of Rudolph Arnheim, is here overturned.
