Mould Making Processes
1. When making the third plaster mould, holes are punched in the second and first pieces to help the moulds fit together, with one side of the hole on the edge to assist with release.
2. When making the last piece, holes are punched in the first three pieces, but as the last piece is square in shape, a differently shaped hole needs to be punched in order to help fit the pieces together correctly.
Casting Processes
As I was aiming for a completely closed shape, I needed to cast the main part with three moulds, and after the wall thickness had been built up, I poured out the extra slipper and put in the bottom mould to cast the whole piece.
Problem
During the casting process, my mould leaked sideways in a few places, so I needed to clay up the gaps for the next casting.
