Object to Object 2

17/10/2022 Geting understand of ILEA Camberwell Collection & Handling session

Today, I got oppotunity to handling objects from the ILEA Camberwell collection. By touching and observing the physical objects up close, it helps me to understand the details of the objects more intuitively, I can have a more three-dimensional view of the item in detail, and to observe the features of the objects from different angles.

For example, the textile horse that I have looked at today, I can feel the actual weight of it and see different sewing techniques by observe the object from different angles. Also, when I hold the physical object, I can feel the inside structure of the textile horse (I'm guessing there might be a wooden stand inside), which I can not know through the photographs online.

During the handling session, we have been asked to ask 20 questions about an object to help us explore and analys more into the object. This is a good way of recording provisional ideas that help with more in-depth research at a later stage.
