Initial Mind Map
Questions
1. How can capture people's curiosity through a design?
2. How can I make furniture playful for people to use through design?
Playful, curious things always catch my attention in the first moment. As "Play" is an innate human ability, we are constantly interacting with things around us, through touch, hearing, sight, smell, etc. From the time we are born, we start to explore the world and learn about everything around us with curiosity, but as we grow up and technology advances, more and more electronic devices, virtual games and ways of interaction change with technology, do people become more and more apathetic to the real world?
My undergraduate studies are in Product & Furniture Design, furniture, or other household products, they take up a large part of our lives and their inherent function makes people interact with them constantly, but most of the time this interaction is limited to function. When we are waiting or at leisure, we are more likely to be looking at our phones, playing games, or listening to music, and rarely interact with these household items in a playful way. This also made me realize that the way people get pleasure in the modern society is affected by technology to a certain extent, thus neglecting the everyday objects around us.
In this context, how to draw attention to everyday household items through design? How to capture people's curiosity through a design? How can I make furniture What kind of material/elements can engage people to interact with everyday objects, like furniture?
